The course, C205/19 The Talented Researcher, is being offered by the Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University, autumn 2021.

Criteria for participation: University degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, or Master’s degree in other fields and/or postgraduate research fellows (PhD students and research year medical students).

In order to assemble a group of mixed participants, all applicants are placed on a waiting list. We seek to have a group with newly enrolled PhD students, experienced PhD students, and preferably PhD students with different backgrounds.

Aim: Increase your personal and professional success by learning how to lead yourself, your project and your important relations.

Learning outcomes: By the end of the course you should have learned about and strengthened your awareness of own strengths and challenges to enhance leadership in both work and your everyday life. You should have strengthened your project management skills in order to better control and plan your project and PhD-education with respect to deliverables, milestones and schedules.

As a specific outcome, all participants will have a plan with deliverables, milestones, and schedules for their PhD project.

Content: The course will cover: Personal planning, motivating yourself and others, Project management, managing your supervisors and other important relations, networking and how to chair meetings.

Between Module 1 and Module 2 you will meet in a triad group discussion at the university. Furthermore, you will have a supervisor meeting on our last course day where your supervisor will be invited to join us from 14:30 – 15:30.

We strongly recommend the participants to prioritize the course and have a 100% attendance although only 80% is required by the Graduate School of Health.

  • PhD students, Research Year students and Research Honours Programme students from Aarhus University
  • PhD students enrolled at partner universities of the Nordoc network
