Course description
This one day course is for junior researchers considering publishing their work in a leading international journal. Participants are invited to submit short drafts of papers on topics that fall under the remit of the journal Contemporary European History for review and comment by both their peers and members of the journal’s editorial team. Course participants will also attend an open lecture and roundtable discussion on a topic in contemporary Scandinavian/European history. The course is supported by the Danish Society for Contemporary Historical Research.
Aim/Learning outcomes
- Knowledge about different aspects of the process of submitting and publishing work in a leading international journal, including peer review.
Requirements for participation
- Participants should be working on a topic of relevance to the journal Contemporary European History, i.e. “the history of Eastern and Western Europe, including the United Kingdom and European overseas empires, from 1914 to the present”. See the journal’s website for more information.
Target group/Participants
- PhD students at all stages of their education. The course is also open to recently qualified post-doctoral researchers.
Workload
- Course/ teaching hours: 1 day (7 hours)
- Preparation hours: 15-20 hours, including review of other participants’ submissions.
- Written assignments etc.: Submission of article outline (extended abstract or introduction, 1000 words max) no later than 3 weeks before the course.
