The course P126/20 Analysis of variance and repeated measurements is being offered by the Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University, fall 2026.

Criteria for participation: University degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, or Master’s degree in other fields and/or postgraduate research fellows (PhD students and research-year medical students).

Requirements for participation: Participation in the course requires completion of Basic Biostatistics part 1 and 2 or similar. The statistical programs Stata and R will be used throughout the course.

Aim: To give the participants an introduction to Analysis of Variance with focus on repeated measurements in experimental studies, and to enable the participants to choose a relevant statistical analysis of own data.

Learning outcomes:

Workload: The full workload of the course is expected to be 125 hours.

Content:

  1. Process data for a statistical analysis of repeated measurements.
  2. Choose a relevant statistical model for a given research question and evaluate the assumptions behind the ANOVA or repeated measurement analysis.
  3. Perform ANOVA, variance component analysis or repeated measurement analysis based on the chosen model.
  4. Describe the results of the statistical analysis, and discuss the results in relation to the scientific question.
  5. Be aware of the limitations of the statistical methods presented in the course.
