In order to pass the course, the participants must turn in an assignment after the course and be present 80% of the time.
The course A227/ Research Presenter is being offered by the Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University, in 2026.
Criteria for participation: University degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, or Master’s degree in other fields and/or postgraduate research fellows (PhD and research-year medical students).

Aim: To develop and refine presentation skills for effectively communicating research through oral presentations and scientific posters.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Apply key presentation techniques to structure and deliver engaging research presentations.
- Utilise rhetorical strategies to enhance clarity, impact, and audience engagement.
- Present scientific posters and oral research talks with confidence and professionalism.
- Effectively use feedback to improve presentation skills.
Workload: The total expected workload for the course is 42 hours.
Content: Presenting research effectively is a critical skill for researchers at all career stages, from PhD candidates to senior scientists. This course focuses on developing the ability to deliver clear, compelling, and well-structured research presentations.
Participants will receive training in fundamental presentation techniques, including audience engagement, storytelling, voice modulation, and visual communication. They will then apply these techniques in practice by preparing and delivering oral presentations and scientific poster presentations through interactive workshops and group exercises.
In addition to presentation delivery, the course emphasises self-reflection and peer feedback as tools for continuous improvement. Participants will learn how to evaluate their performance, incorporate constructive criticism, and refine their presentations accordingly.
This course integrates rhetorical principles with practical exercises, equipping researchers with the essential skills to confidently present their work in academic and professional settings.
