Course description

This course is an opportunity for PhD students to reflect on how their research is situated in a broader academic landscape. Rather than merely reproducing existing academic discourses, this course encourages students to actively position themselves and their work. The course consists of short presentations by the students about their respective projects with an emphasis on their specific contribution to current research topics. The presentations will be followed by group discussions lead by visiting scholar, Kristin Gjesdal, who will do the Hartnack lecture in philosophy 2024.

Aim

To reflect on the act of doing research and the mode of presentation in one’s dissertation.

Preparation and literature

There will be two short texts that should be read in advance. The texts will be distributed by email after the application deadline.

The students will also be asked to do short presentations of 2-3 pages, which will be distributed beforehand.
