The course B329/01 PhD course in Biomedical Innovation is being offered by the Graduate School of Health, Aarhus University, 2024.

Criteria for participation: University degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, or Master’s degree in other fields and/or postgraduate research fellows (PhD students and research-year medical students).

Requirements for participation: We would like participants to write a short motivational letter when applying for the course (please email the letter to course leader). Most importantly, students should have an interest in the topic and be curious to learn more.

Aim: Introduction to and training in biomedical focused innovation

Learning outcomes: After the course, the students will know about different routes to take their innovative research projects, the steps necessary to form a spin-out company, how to communicate and pitch your project to investors or collaborators, and basic concepts of making a business plan.

Workload: The full workload of the course is expected to be 70 hours

Content: 6 full day presence with a mix of lectures and case studies based on real-life examples. The participants will be trained in various concepts on how to drive innovative research projects. This includes preparing and presenting an investor pitch as well as submitting a high-level business plan.  Part of the course will be home assignments – both as part of a group and individually.
