The course presents a framework of con-ducting PhD at CAS, AU. It explains the relevant rules, including registering work progress, departmental work obligations, study abroad and coursework; presents and discusses the different activities organized in the PhD programs and student organiza-tions; discusses PhD research as a process, work-flow and agency of the PhD scholars.

Aim:

This course aims at contributing to a good start for all PhD-students at CAS, with respect to academic work as well as work environment and general well-being, by:
1) explaining relevant rules and regula-tions, including MyPhD-planner, ECTS-points for course work, and work obliga-tion at your department
2) offering general advice relevant to the “role as a PhD-student”, with particular focus on the PhD-student as leader of his/her own project and addressing the issue of ups and downs during the project period
3) providing input and ideas relating to work-flow and daily work routines.
4) suggesting ideas concerning how to plan PhD-courses and other PhD-activities.
5) introducing new PhD-students from dif-ferent disciplines and departments to each other.

MyPhD, coursework, student organiza-tions, PhD programs, social life, self-un-derstanding as a PhD scholar.
